Results from "Vote For the Best SF Ever"

Summary:
This is the results of my survey about science fiction. The idea was to figure out what kind of science fiction people like the best. To do this, I posted a message to five different news groups, asking what people liked. The cathegories were: Your three best authors, books, movies and TV-series in the history of science fiction.
I received 62 replies which was more than enough for my little survey. Those who voted were aged between 17 and 50, and then there were 11 persons that for some reason did not write their age, so there might be some older or younger persons too. Most of them were between 26 and 34 years old.
Now, on to the results.
The number one author was Isaac Asimov with 16 votes, followed by Robert A. Heinlein with 15 votes and Arthur C. Clarke who got 13 votes.
The novel in first place was "Dune" by Frank Herbert which recieved 11 votes. In second place was "Ender's Game" by Orson Scott Card with 9 votes, third place with 8 votes was "The Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy" by Douglas Adams.
"2001: A Space Odyssey" was the winner amongst the movies with as many as 26 votes. "Blade Runner" came second with 22 votes and "Alien" on third place with 10 votes. "Star Wars" came fourth with 9 votes.
The most popular TV-series with almost 50 per cent of the votes was "Babylon 5" which got 29 votes. "Star Trek" recieved both the second and third place with 19 votes for the original series and 16 votes for "The Next Generation".

There was a difference in votes depending on how old the person voting was. For example, "Star Trek: The Original Series" was more popular among older viewers, while "Star Trek: The Next Generation" had a younger audience. And "2001: A Space Odyssey" was a lot more popular with older persons. My guess is that younger people think it is boring because there is no "action", but older people appreciate it.
In the television cathegory most people agreed what series were the best. But in the book cathegory almost everyone had their own opinion, the list on which novels or series that got only one vote is very long...
It was also interesting to see what people thought of as "science fiction". I did not specify exactly what I meant deliberately. It turned out that I got votes on everything between pure science fiction and fantasy, to horror and almost ordinary fiction, and since I wanted to make everyone happy, I included every vote. This shows how hard it is to define the term "science fiction", so the abbreviation "SF" is more likely to mean "speculative fiction".
